To maximize your garden production, you might want to plan where to grow what according to how much sunlight each part of your garden gets, before you start planting your garden. For example if you want to utilize an area that is under a shade of a tree or an area that doesn’t get much sunlight because of a wall or fence you want to know what you can efficiently grow in that area. Here are the required sunlight for different types of plants:

Plants that require high sunlight times (6-8 hours a day) are: Tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, melons, cucumbers, beans, squash, okra, strawberries

Plants that require medium sunlight (4-6 hours a day) are: Broccoli, carrots, radishes, beets, turnips, potatoes.

Plants that require low sunlight (3-4 hours  a day) are: Arugula, kale, spinach, lettuce, asian greens, mustard greens, parsley, scallions, cabbage, swiss chards.
