I’ve never been a heavy sleeper, but I’ve always seem to manage well with less sleep than the average person. As of late however, as my little one entered toddler hood, and her sleep became more erratic, my tolerance for little sleep has waned greatly. I’ve become grumpy, irritable, easily fatigued, and generally a bit more down than normal. I feel the difference on the days I’ve been able to catch up. Aside from the immediate side effects of sleep deprivation, the cumulative effects can be quite damaging. Given that this is the chance your body has to repair itself, it shouldn’t be too surprising that, being deprived of it, would cause overall health to decline.
