We once attempted to plant a bunch of trees on our 1-acre property several years ago. A weeping cherry tree at the bottom of our hill thrived and grew. We were elated! But the Japanese Maple that we planted ON a hill, didn’t fare as well. What we found out later, was that we attempted to water too quickly, and on a slope like that, the water just ran off. Lesson learned. This post really applies to young trees that haven’t yet been established well, but might also be handy for struggling or dying trees.
Here’s how to know exactly when and how to water your trees, help keep them moist, and when to apply fertilizer, if necessary.
