Our new home has only one bathroom. After 1 week I was at the hardware store buying a plunger. I’ve had to use it once a week since. This is not good. We personally know better than to flush anything other than TP, but that doesn’t mean the prior residents respected that rule. Still, I did some searching and analysis, and as stated below, older, low-flow toilets tend to have this problem. Ours is most certainly low flow. It looks like I’m just going to have to replace the whole darn thing. If you’re having similar issues, this is a sound diagnostic article.
A constantly clogging toilet can only be attributed to one of the things mentioned in the link below.

Another issue in many places, are the minerals in the water. Excessively hard water will, over time, leave the minerals to dry in the holes around the rim of the bowl and decrease drain rate into the bowl.

There are a lot of water wells around us that are so loaded that no one leaves the screens in faucets. Calcium crust on everything. And considerably better installing cheaper plastic body faucets, so that they don’t get eaten up. Hardness on our well is 162 grains. Like drinking chalk water.
Windmill punch round here is hard. We put in a water softener an use salt it’s keeping house clear of the calcium. After 3 years I’m not sure what it’s doing to softener but house is good
Joel Frazier i have a Softener on ours and it averages 150 pounds of salt a month and almost makes soft. Better than the alternative.
Any whole house filtration system will extend the life span of all your plumbing fixtures.
Rives White we have a softener from Home Depot it was about 500 bucks it says we average 161 gallons a day I wish we could have gotten a different one as it recharges every night if I could adjust it to recharge like every 3rd day. But as it is we use about 40 lbs. ours is set for 130 parts per million I guess what that means. The highest the softener will go. An I agree it’s worth it. Joel Frazier , ordered mine off Amazon. It’s a 40,000 grain capacity, which typically you want a buffer and set it to regenerate at about 60% capacity, but I backed off removing all the hardness due to the fact that our well is slightly salty, so I leave about 10grains hardness to help counteract the salt content. The softener will not remove salt. We do have an RO system under the sink for drinking and cooking with. I got spoiled on Lousiana water. Dig a post hole and hit water. My well here in NM is 632 ft with screens at 3 different depths, have to lift it 172 feet.
