Reading this blog piece made me realize what a terrible menu planner I am. Ok, I already knew I was a terrible menu planner, but this made me feel kinda bad about it. But that’s a good thing! I have a new resolution in the works. I may not be able to commit to “canning” things like a real homesteader just yet, but I most certainly can make 5 lbs of mashed potatoes and freeze it (as one of the points suggests). This piece is great for pointing out what you may not have noticed: certain foods are pretty cheap right now, like potatoes and turkey. So capitalize on it, both for economy and for ease of planning meals for the winter.
