This is clearly not the kind of drumstick you were thinking of. I have never heard of this vegetable, but it is of Indian origin and used frequently in the cuisine. I only came across this while researching another post on anemia. Apparently, one of the benefits of this vegetable is to help alleviate an iron deficiency. Or so it is said! That particular benefit is not listed below, so maybe there are even more! Anyhoo, it is rich in calcium, and for a largely vegetarian population, this is valued. There seem to be many benefits to pregnant women too. I suppose I’ll have to look for these at a farmer’s market!
