PEX is where it’s at, but it’s hard to put faith into this seemingly vulnerable plumbing pipe. PEX might be cheaper, but if you have a sudden and/or unexpected rodent problem, they will chew through the pipe to get to the water and cause a leak. If the PEX is upstairs, expect that leak to trickle down and cause all kinds of exponential issues. You get what you pay for. I’ve never gone back to PEX since.
