Jewelweed is also known as touch-me-not because of the leaves’ reflexive “recoiling” when touched. We came across this plant in Costa Rica, but I have not seen it here in the states. If I have I certainly didn’t realize it! But apparently, it could just be growing in your backyard. So once you know what you’re looking for, keep your eyes peeled! This stuff has several medicinal properties, including its powerful anti-itch benefits, especially as an antidote to poison ivy.
