Have you ever woken up at 3 am, and just stared at the ceiling? Or perhaps, closed your eyes and let the thoughts race for a solid hour or so, until you finally drifted back to a deep sleep, only to wake up later than normal and WAY more tired than usual? Well, as counterintuitive as it may seem, trying to fall back asleep after only 4 or 5 hours of sleep may not be the best. This is because, once you are wide awake, your body will start the sleep process all over again.
So this mom’s trick? Wake up in the middle of the night wide awake? Stay up. This is hard to do mentally, but may be the best way handle things physically. You won’t know unless you try it.
