7 Reasons Why Your Eye Is Twitching

Credit writingandwellness.com

This supremely irritating spasm happens to me every so often. And every so often is happening right now. Since Thanksgiving. So almost a month now? Good God help me and my sanity. The twitch itself is not the most severe that I’ve ever had but its persistence is getting quite aggravating.

At first, I thought it was a lack of sleep, as one of the points in the post below suggests. But I’ve been relatively well rested the last few weeks, so scratch that. I can rule out nutritional deficiencies, especially since magnesium seems to be the culprit in this regard, and I’ve been taking a supplement for over two months now.

Stress? Hmmm, not really. I’ve been far more stressed than this in recent months without a twitch to speak for.

What HAS changed and what I will be experimenting with this week is I’ve almost completely switched over to wearing my glasses versus my contacts. This was a decision made of out of necessity since I tore my last two pairs. Eye strain can be a leading cause of eye twitches, which makes sense. In the past when I’ve switched to my glasses on the errant occasion, I’ve often felt that my eyes were tired and heavy. My optometrist told me that’s completely “normal”, or at least, expected since the eyes have to work harder to see out of glasses versus contacts.

If this has been happening to you. Read the full piece below and see what factors have been likely contributing to your eye twitch!
