16 Superfoods to Lower Cholesterol Level

Many years ago, I did contract work as a health educator which involved attending health fairs and providing counseling on various health topics. One of those times, I was invited to an employee health fair at Astra-Zeneca. They were rolling out their new baby “Crestor”, a cholesterol-lowering drug, and essentially we were being asked to “promote” it to the employees who tested high on their cholesterol stick. This really got to me.

So of course, I counseled these folks on diet and exercise instead! Yay me! What’s hilarious is that the health fair organization thought I was the bee’s knees and asked me to do the next one too. I actually wish I knew a bit more then. Namely about the link between carbohydrates and cholesterol, and that your saturated fat intake is NOT the leading predictor. And that there are also an entire list of healthy foods, like Almonds and Garlic, that are known to contribute to healthy cholesterol levels:
