Sugar is one of those interesting, ubiquitous substances in our world that everyone understands is not good for us in more than minuscule amounts, but yet, we all indulge more than we should and we tend to defend said indulgences. And by we “all”, I mean 98% of us in America. There may be 2% who eat exceptionally well, and in the many areas of the rest of the world, sugar is not as readily available as it here.
So we know it is bad for our health. Diabetes, overweight, and high cholesterol are correlated with sugar consumption. But what about what it can do to the brain? There have been studies tying sugar to ALS and Alzheimer’s. So it shouldn’t be too surprising that it can have an impact on basic memory functioning. Read more below at Quartz:
