How many times have you heard that dog’s saliva is anti-bacterial and that it would be a good idea to let a dog lick one of YOUR wounds? Well, it’s a true, but very misleading, statement. It’s totally kosher for a dog to lick his own wounds because of the antibacterial quality of the saliva. And even then, that’s not always a good idea. But that same saliva can actually have a bacteria that is bad for humans.
