Although the imagery in this “before” picture looks like it was taken from some twisted thriller instead of legit medical documentation, this sci-fi innovation is indeed the real deal. It’s fascinating and exciting—this idea that our own stem cells can basically regenerate skin cells in a far more effective way than grafting can. Grafting works by healing from the outer edges of wound inward. But this spray-on stem cell “device” allows skin to regrow in a much more rapid fashion by creating islands in the center of the wound. This is only in testing still and only effective on burns that don’t penetrate muscle or connective tissue. But SO many burn victims, especially children who would otherwise be scarred for life, will benefit from this near-miracle discovery. Read more here:
