Mac and cheese is far and away my go-to comfort food. My husband doesn’t care for it, for some ungodly reason, so I tend to enjoy it in his absence. I make it by adding butter, salt and sharp cheddar to a pot of freshly boiled elbow macaroni. And that’s how I do. I’m a purist and don’t like a lot of variation in my mac and cheese. But once in a while I go out on a limb at a restaurant that brags it has the best mac and cheese. I do like a little bread crumble up top, but can do without heated spice or bizarro flavors. Do any of the following variations appeal to you?
