It’s not just the types of flowers you plant, but how they’re arranged that can make a difference for the bee community that’s choosing between your garden and the one next door. Bees and butterflies are attracted to bright colors and lots of diversity. They’re looking for two things in a garden: nectar and pollen. Pollinators associate a vibrant garden with a plentiful amount of nutrients.
It’s also worth noting that pollinators will prefer native plants over hybridized plants or unfamiliar plants. The most successful bee-friendly garden will have a staple amount of native plants, and be supplemented by a complementary amount of exotics.
