For all of you loving parents out there, it’s that time of year again. Our children are out at summer sports camps and playing they’re playing at places like swimming pools and parks. How do we know that they are safe? Does your child play football? Then this is something that you should really educate yourself about especially if you haven’t yet seen the movie, “Concussion”, which really sheds light on the brain disease called Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) that is highly correlated with concussions and multiple injuries to the head. Certainly, this isn’t something that you have to worry about in Pee Wee Football, but over time, many, MANY hits to the head can possibly result in this condition.
Looking for signs of concussion, to begin with, is paramount. We know we’re not supposed to let someone who has been concussed sleep for longer than two hours at a time in order to prevent a coma. What if you didn’t know your child even HAD a concussion in the first place?
