A lot of people have a satellite dish laying here or there on their property, I had one bolted onto my roof for years before I noticed it. This video has some nice repurposing ideas for an old satellite dish.
The first idea is to transform it into a high range wifi receiver that I didn’t really buy unless you are hooking it into a repeater, not a normal router, (some routers can be changed into repeater mode). It might work as a transmitter though. Here is the full video:
The second is a parabolic mic to be able to hear sounds that are far away, just make sure to use this ethically :). Another use for an old dish is an HDTV antenna that’ll allow you to catch channels that you wouldn’t be able to with a normal antenna.
The last use is a neat survival trick and that is a solar cooker.
