We often post about harvesting rainwater as an off-the-grid water solution. This will allow the owner to use rainwater around a homestead, which is drinkable, for irrigation, watering livestock, and inside the home for washing and even drinking if needed. Although it might be a good prepping device, needless to say, if the air is chemically polluted, rainwater will get polluted as well. If you are planning on harvesting rainwater please check the link below to see the legislation in your state.

However, as weird as it sounds, this is illegal in some states, and there are regulations for it in others.

Ok. Then you can lose everything because you are ignorant of what rights you actually have. Next time purchase the water rights and don’t be an ignorant ass complaining about your lack of foresight.

Are there rainwater police??? I doubt it!!!

    • October 29, 2017 at 2:22 am

Yes in some states water rights are extremely rigid. In some cases the rain that falls on your property legally belongs to the person who has water rights to the river it would drain into. And yes people have been charged and fined or jailed for having a rain barrel.

    • October 29, 2017 at 3:47 am

      That’s some bullshit.

    • October 29, 2017 at 3:56 am

Andrew Tremeer Some states see rain water as a natural resource of the state, as in it belongs to the state and is not public property.

  • October 29, 2017 at 2:44 am

So if our state isn’t listed there’s no regulation?

  • October 29, 2017 at 3:02 am

Rain is free…..the government doesn’t “own” it……..collect all you need.

  • October 29, 2017 at 3:59 am

You know, if you set everything up on your own and you don’t go around telling everyone and their neighbor that you’re harvesting the rain water, no one will know and you’ll never get in trouble. In other words if you don’t want to get in trouble for it, STFU!

  • October 29, 2017 at 9:31 am

Haha go fuck yourself , I pay taxes on my property, if I want to collect water from the sky it’s my choice

    • October 29, 2017 at 9:34 am

  • October 29, 2017 at 10:05 am

Didn’t buy the water rights? Didn’t make sure you actually own your land?
