I have kept activated charcoal (in capsule form) in my medicine cabinet for over ten years now. If you don’t already know, charcoal is known for binding to toxins in the GI tract and carrying them out. If you were to show up at the hospital, presenting with some kind of toxic reaction, they will likely administer charcoal, or so I’m told. I’ve always used it for those days of over-drinking, to help carry out excess alcohol, but I never thought about the appropriate dosing. This article explains how it all works and what you can do to make it yourself if you’re too far from the health food store!
