9 Tips for Training Hunting Dogs

iowadnr.gov

I had an uncle who hunted heavily and regularly in Canada. As far back as I can remember he always had a pair of German Pointers, a male and a female, and he ALWAYS named them Jingle and Bell. I think he went through three sets of Jingles and Bells in my recollection.

I never saw the dogs in action, but I assume they were good hunting dogs since he kept replacing them. I don’t know how good he was at training them to hunt, but I know he could have taken a lesson or two from the following article. Brute force and cruelty only teach a dog to be fearful of you. Learn the proper ways to train a dog instead of just following antiquated methods. Here’s a good place to start, but please dig deeper!
