I knew my child’s genius tendencies had to be passed on from my genetic material. Ok, maybe that’s not entirely true. But it’s nice to have confirmation that the kind of intelligence measured by IQ tests is carried on the X chromosome. Furthermore, the bond between mother and infant builds upon intelligence, engendering confidence to explore the world and want to learn more. This is not to discount the father’s role in child development! Interestingly, (and somewhat counterintuitively) the Y chromosome is responsible for developing sound emotional states and intuition. So why does it seem men are not as advanced in these areas themselves?
