I’m so glad I just happened up on this tutorial. Not only does Attainable Sustainable give you a great DIY to replace your dryer sheets, but if you don’t feel like going that far, they provide other options too! Aluminum foil reduces static in your dryer. Who knew? Who figured that one out? The most important thing to glean from this article is that dryer sheets are indeed chemically laden and toxic. The lovely scent you’ve grown to love is only temporary anyway, and so artificial. You can do without it with a little weaning!

I just take an old glass jar with a screw top lid and rubberized seal in the top ( Like you buy Polish sausage in.) Wash it well, and dry it well. Put some Fabric softener in it. Add sponges. Absorb the liquid or not. Squeeze most of the liquids out of one or two reg. sized sponges and add the sponge to the dryer. Then dry it all. Rinse, wring and submerge the sponges again. The liquid softener lasts for a very, very long time.
It is strange to me that this article is overwhelmingly about reusing things but suggests that you buy new jars.
All this DIY stuff doesn’t cut static! Still have to use unscented sheets during the dry winters.
