Homemade Cleansing Facial Wipes

A facial cleansing routine can be almost religious for some people. Maybe I’m just speaking for myself here.

Since I was 11 years old, I washed, toned, and moisturized my face morning and night, without frequent fail. If I didn’t wash my face, I probably didn’t brush my teeth either (Oh, those good ol’ college days!).  I have experimented with SO many different cleansers over the years, and if you are a lady like myself who likes to go heavy on the eye make-up at times, you either go through a case of Costco cotton wipes a month, or have a great deal of black-stained washcloths.

Environmentally and economically minded as I am, I have avoided using the disposable facial wipes unless I’m in a pinch or on vacation. I’m a reuse, reduce, recycle kind of gal who is still cloth diapering a toddler while living on the road, so these kinds of wasteful products don’t have much of a place in my life.

I don’t know why I didn’t think of this particular DIY beauty solution before! It’s so simple and uses my favorite go-to products like coconut and essential oils. I confess I haven’t tried making these yet because frankly, I don’t even have an old t-shirt to cut up yet!

BUT, I am making this my weekend project. I promise to report back on how well they work. Removing heavy makeup can be quite a challenge, but I think that coconut oil will easily rise to the occasion. If you have a sensitivity to tea tree oil, I would substitute lavender or frankincense essential oils.
