I’ve never heard of horehound, but it sounds like it’s a great herbal remedy for soothing coughs and sore throats. The author of Reformation Acres grows it in her garden but also had found it growing wild in meadows close by. Even if you don’t have access to the fresh plant, she provides a link to buy the berries online! I, for one, plan to try this and have these soothers on hand pre-emptively. (But of course, I’m not getting sick this winter!)
You will need
1 cup fresh horehound leaves & flowers or 1/3 cup dried horehound
1 cup honey
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
juice of one lemon
1 teaspoon butter

My Mom used to give me Honey and Horehound drops when I was young. They worked well. I suspect they were British. David.
