I have tried unsuccessfully more than once to grow potatoes in my yard, but because of moles and other rodents, I was never able to see my potatoes grow. Maybe this is the best solution. What I did is I drilled wholes in the bottom of the trash can, put 6 inches of soil, cut the potato seeds in halves, planted 6 halves cut side down and added some soil on top.
