It was never recorded before that dogs in the U.S. got the flu. However, recently a few cases in Florida have been recorded. Since there were no records of the flu before there was never the need for a vaccine, but according to webmd.com there is a vaccine that can help reduce the severity of a dog flu in case they got it.
Dogs don’t die of the flu usually, but different ages and sizes are at risk of catching it. However, dogs with a ‘smushed-in’ face like a french bulldog or a pug have a tougher time dealing with the flu. Symptoms are sneezing following with harsh, dry cough and ending with retching. It has not been recorded that a dog flu can be transmitted to umans.
