My endeavors to use a small spectrum of products to make a broad spectrum of cleaning agents is a constant effort of mine. I don’t want to buy Pledge or any “spray on” dusting and furniture polish. I want to make a good furniture cleaner that is inexpensive, non-toxic and effective. It’s usually the latter that leaves something to be desired. With a little research, I whipped up this recipe for one use and simply dipped a clean cloth in out until it was damp. Then I wiped away! I have tried the recipe with olive oil but it leaves too much of an oily residue that is quite difficult to remove. Now you’ve got double the work, so refined coconut oil gets my vote! The essential oils not only smell nice but add a disinfecting boost. Anything citrus-y will do the job.
Homemade Furniture and Dusting Polish:
1/4 C. White distilled vinegar
1 tbs. REFINED coconut oil (olive or canola oil will work well too)
3 drops citrus blend essential oil (you can use lemon or orange as well).
To make a whole (small) spray bottle:
1 cup white vinegar
1/2 refined coconut oil
20 drops of citrus oil
