Part of the reason our RV journey wasn’t as pleasant as it could have been was because of our aging dog that we brought with us. So many folks in RV’s have their dogs with them, sometimes multiple, and I’d say most people appeared to be having a better experience than we did. Truly this was really just because ours is old and incontinent. So we couldn’t let her roam around the RV, and she was pretty unhappy outside penned up, mostly because we weren’t with her, I think. She often poo’ed and stepped in it. Almost every day. So that’s, like, the worst. And when inside the RV, we had her in a portable, collapsible “crate”. This, she peed in probably every other day. So either she was really pissed about this trip, or she was just totally losing her faculties. Now that we’re in a home again, she pees a lot less (I say this about 30 minutes after cleaning up the puddle of pee in the laundry room we confine her to). But it hasn’t happened in several weeks.
Below are some more pointed tips, some of which we didn’t think of, that you may find helpful:
Tips for RVing With Your Dog
Now I’m just venting! So, back to the point: If you have a NORMAL dog, I think the set up we were attempting would have been ideal: Collapsible crate in the RV, an octagonal pen outside, and/or a lead. Just be mindful, that the length of the leash on the lead should not reach a road or the next campsite.
