My husband and I always have this argument. I remember back in my learning-to-drive days being told to ALWAYS engage the parking brake when parked. I don’t remember who told me, but I took their opinion to be well-informed and made a staunch habit out of engaging the parking brake. And I only ever drive automatic cars. My husband, who only drove manual cars before I met him, thinks the parking brake is an antiquated mechanism—a relic from the cars constructed in the early 20th century. What’s your take?
