As I read through this article I realized how true it is and how it applied to my own family. I started comparing how my son acted a couple of weeks ago for his fourth birthday and how he was at the beach yesterday. He was happy for all the toys he got, but he wasn’t as happy as he was yesterday. I can tell from his laughter and his excitement that he was enjoying the beach far better than his birthday. He even said this morning “yesterday was a fun day!”.
Eventually, toys just get boring to the kids ending up in a box with a bunch of other toys. On the other hand, whenever a trip to the beach or a family vacation is brought up it is always an exciting topic for my son.
The article below explains why it is more important to go on vacations than to buy toys.
