Facebook Page likes: how to get more without ads
A like on a Page and a like on a post are different things, and Facebook now counts them differently. Which number matters, and what actually grows it.

“The page needs likes” — everyone says it, few say which ones. On Facebook a “like” can mean three different things: liking the Page itself, following it, and reacting to a post. According to Facebook’s help, some Pages now show “Follow” instead of the “Like” button, and anyone who only liked a Page without following it has lost the connection to it. So first let’s sort out what we are counting, and then what grows that number.
1 / 4Three different likes
When someone talks about “Page likes”, they usually mean one of these three — and all three grow in different ways.
- 01The Page like
The old “Like” on a Page. Facebook still counts it separately, but on new Pages the main button is already “Follow” — the Page like is slowly becoming history.
- 02The follow
A follower is someone whose feed your posts can appear in. This number decides who your words reach, and it is the one a new customer looks at.
- 03The reaction on a post
A like, a heart, a “wow” under a specific post. For the feed, what matters is not the count but the share: how many reacted out of those who saw it.
2 / 4What grows likes on posts
- 04The first two seconds
In the feed a person decides within a second whether to stop. In a video, show the result right away; in a photo, one “before and after” frame.
- 05A question at the end
One simple question that can be answered in a single word. A comment and a reaction are good signs for the feed, and such a post gets shown to more people.
- 06A reply to every comment
Your reply reaches the person as a notification, and they come back to the post — often with a reaction.
- 07Real footage
Your work, your people, your place. Since 2025 Facebook has cut the reach of Pages that re-upload other people’s videos — and the likes fall with it.
3 / 4What grows Page followers
- 08Invite with Facebook’s own button
On a computer, under the Page cover, in Options, there is “Invite friends” — Facebook’s own free way. There is a limit; Facebook doesn’t publish the number.
- 09People who liked a post but don’t follow
On many Pages the reactions list shows an “Invite” button next to such people. They already liked your post — this is the warmest invitation there is.
- 10Ask the customer
One sentence at the till: “we post the news on Facebook — follow us.” No ad can replace that.
- 11Rhythm
Three or four posts a week on the same days. A live Page gathers followers by itself; a Page that wakes up once a month loses them.
4 / 4What not to do
- 12“Like if…”
Since 2017 Facebook has pushed down posts that ask for a reaction directly; Pages that do it systematically get pushed down as a whole.
- 13Buying likes
Meta’s rules explicitly forbid buying, selling or exchanging likes, follows and views. Such reactions get removed, the account risks restrictions, and the feed ignores them anyway.
- 14“Like for like” groups
An artificially collected like falls under the same rule. Those people never watch your posts afterwards — and the share the feed measures actually drops.
✓The bottom line
A Page like means less today than a follower, and a like on a post matters as a share, not a count. The same thing grows all three: posts that real people stop at and respond to, and Facebook’s own invite button.
- Facebook: following a Page — “Follow” instead of “Like”
- Facebook: what following means
- Meta: Page follows and likes
- Facebook: invite friends to follow a Page
- Meta: engagement bait gets demoted (2017)
- Meta: buying and selling likes is forbidden (spam policy)
- Facebook for Creators: unoriginal content (2025)
Everything above is free and within the networks’ rules. If you still decide on a paid service, choose one that answers in Georgian and stands behind the result — for example, instaboost.ge.
