Free followers and likes: what works and what is dangerous

“Free followers” and “free likes” are everywhere online — and almost everywhere they ask for your account password. What Instagram does with such apps, and what is actually free.

Search for “free followers” and dozens of sites will offer a hundred followers “in a minute”. The price is always the same: log in to Instagram or Facebook through their app. Instagram says it plainly: such services “are not affiliated with or endorsed by Instagram”, and whoever gives them a password gives them full access to the account. This article covers first what happens to such accounts, then what grows followers for free and safely.

1 / 3Free likes and followers from apps: what Instagram says

  1. 01
    Full access to your account

According to Instagram’s help, an app you gave your password or access token to can read your private messages and your friends’ data and post spam in your name.

  2. 02
    The likes get removed

Since November 2018 Instagram has been removing likes, follows and comments generated by such apps, and tells the account about it inside the app.

  3. 03
    The account gets restricted

Those who continue, in Instagram’s words, may have parts of their account limited, and the account may be disabled or deleted.

  4. 04
If you already gave the password

Change the password — that logs out every device — and remove unknown apps: Settings → Security → Apps and websites.

2 / 3What the rules say

  1. 05
    Artificial collection is forbidden

Instagram’s Community Guidelines say it directly: don’t try to artificially collect likes, followers or shares, and don’t offer money or gifts for them.

  2. 06
    Buying and selling is spam

Meta’s spam rules forbid buying, selling or exchanging likes, follows, views and shares. This applies equally on Facebook and Instagram.

  3. 07
    “Like for like” groups

Mutual likes and follows are the same artificial collection, only slower. The result is the same: reactions from people who don’t care about your post.

  4. 08
Why it won’t help even for free

The feed measures a share: how many reacted out of those who saw it. A thousand followers who never watch lower that share — and your real followers see your posts less often too.

3 / 3What is actually free

  1. 09
    Facebook’s invite button

In the Page’s Options — “Invite friends”; in a post’s reactions — “Invite” for those who don’t follow yet. Facebook’s own free and safe way.

  2. 10
    A trial reel

On Instagram, show a reel to strangers first: in 24 hours you’ll see whether it brings new people. This is an Instagram feature, not a third-party app.

  3. 11
    Collab posts

A collab post with a neighbouring business or a customer is shown to both audiences. One post — two circles of people who actually exist.

  4. 12
A story every day and a reply to everyone

A story sits at the top of the feed and reminds people of you for 24 hours; a same-day reply to a comment or message brings a person back. Neither costs anything.

  5. 13
    A question at the till

One sentence to every customer: “follow us, that’s where we post the news.” Ten customers a day — more than a hundred followers a month, all real.

✓The bottom line

“Free followers” from an app cost you your account password, and the likes get removed. What is truly free is what Facebook and Instagram give you themselves: the invite button, a trial reel, a collab post, stories and a reply to everyone — slowly, but with real people.

If you are considering paid help

Everything above is free and within the networks’ rules. If you still decide on a paid service, choose one that answers in Georgian and stands behind the result — for example, instaboost.ge.
